Start of Day Procedures
The main computer (server computer) must always be left on. It is the terminal that will upload sales data at night and will also activate any changes that may have been made to the menu or postcode database the day before. All the other terminals (tills) can be turned off at night via the Shutdown Clients button in the End of Night screen (please see the End of Night section for more details).
Before using the system for the first time and at the start of the day you need to follow the start of day process that is detailed below. Here is the Start of Day Checklist:
- The server should still be on from the previous night. Turn on all remaining PCs and make sure each loads Windows up and progresses to the Andromeda POS login prompt.
- A supervisor (or higher level of access employee like manager, owner, etc.) needs to login on one of the terminals and clock in other staff members (drivers, kitchen staff, order takers, etc.) using the Dispatcher > TimeKeeping buttons. For more information on clocking in and out please see the Employees section 6.5.
- Count your till float and insert the information into Andromeda POS by going to Supervisor Menu > Float Count. Then enter the number of banknotes and coins until you reach the desired total amount and click 'Save Float' (you could also open the cash drawer by pressing 'Open Cash Drawer' while on the same window so you could physically put the money in the till.
4. Assign driver floats. Step 1 is to clock in the driver. Then go to Dispatcher > Till Functions and highlight the driver (Drivers Working Today section). Then click Award Float. Insert the amount you are handing to the driver and click 'Award'.
You will immediately see the amount showing in the 'Float' box in the 'Drivers Working Today' section (pointed with an arrow on the screenshot)
- 5. If you have a driver screen, log in Andromeda POS and go to the Dispatcher.
- Make sure that the driver screen shows MAIN mode in the top right (not VIEW mode), as shown below:
- 6. On your first order confirm that the system operates as expected, if not place a test order to confirm any issues prior to contacting support
